13 October: To celebrate their 10-year anniversary in Dublin, Uber is offering one lucky customer the chance to win 10 years’ worth of free taxis, to the value of up to €1,000 per year. All you have to do to be in with a chance to win is simply use the Uber service from Monday 14th October to Sunday 20th October. The winner will be announced on 25th of October.
As part of the celebrations, Uber is honouring their top-rated 10-year-tenured driver, local Wicklow resident James Lawless, who has achieved a perfect star rating and has been an invaluable provider of the Uber service since its Dublin launch in 2014.
Head of Uber Ireland Kieran Harte commented on the anniversary, saying “We are thrilled to celebrate our 10th year in Dublin. It has been a privilege to serve the city and its residents. Our success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our drivers like James. We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate this landmark and hopefully many more to come.”
Lawless expressed his gratitude for the achievement, stating “I’m honoured to be recognised for my work with Uber. Driving for them has been an incredible experience as I get to help and interact with people from all walks of life. It’s been a pleasure to work with Uber for the last 10 years.”
Over the past decade, Uber has served passengers from 180 different countries, with the first-ever trip originating from Baggot Street and terminating at Heuston Station. The company has facilitated countless journeys, including the longest one-way trip of 3 hours and 47 minutes between Dublin Airport and Killarney.
