A brand new Food and Wine Emporium is now open on the Dunmore Road Waterford.
The new bistro-style café is headed up by the founder of the hugely successful Bellissimo, Tony McMahon. Commenting on the new food and wine experience Tony says, “I am delighted to open the Food and Wine Emporium. I’ve been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years now and I have always put the customer at the heart of our offering and tried to improve continuously. Bellissimo will give way to the bright new space that is the Food and Wine Emporium.”
Once indoor dining is permitted from the 5th of July next, the brand new Emporium will open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday, and from 9 am to 9 pm on Friday & Saturday (Closed Sunday). It will offer an extensive Brunch and Long Lunch menu during the day and evening Smorgasbord menu from 5 pm.
Whilst only outdoor dining is permitted until the 5th of July the Food and Wine Emporium has opened the doors to welcome customers to the Skyview Terrace with a temporary menu of Pastries, treats and excellent coffee from 9 am each morning and a Bar style menu on offer without the need for reservations from noon until 8 pm.
Once indoor dining is permitted the Food and Wine Emporium will offer a new seasonal menu which features a delicious array of brunch items from Fried Portobello Mushrooms on Toasted Ciabatta with Butter Bean Favetta, Poached Egg and Mushroom Duxelle to a traditional Waterford Blaa with Dry Cured Bacon, fried Egg & Potatoes and Tomato Relish and more. There is a variety of healthy smoothies and lunch features Salt & Pepper Calamari, with Salad Greens, Chunky Tartare Sauce or Plant Power Lunch, Brown rice, Avocados, Soft Boiled Egg. Kale, Parsley, Spinach, Alfa Sprouts, Seeds & a Lime Coriander dressing to Summer Salads and more. A real food kids menu is on offer along with a wide selection of snacks and desserts.
Friday and Saturday evenings will feature Smorgasbord events where a variety of seasonal bites will be offered on sharing boards designed for 2 or 4 persons, or combinations for bigger tables with a favourite tipple as an accompaniment. A full bar will also be available as with draught beer, spirits, wines and a gorgeous Cocktail list.
A retail offering of fine foods and ingredients will be developed in the coming weeks as an extra opportunity for the Emporiums’ customers.
Tony says that the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic has forced us all to reflect on what’s important and hopefully lots of positives will be borne out of this incredible period in our history and he is excited for the new future at the Food and Wine Emporium. “Togetherness is something that we want to celebrate and make possible and this new bistro-style café and coffee roastery should be at the centre of that in our locality.”
“There are exciting times ahead and we are really looking forward to sharing this new space with all of our customers old and new. Bellissimo had served us all well, families had grown up and the next generation had become our customers, but it was time to hand over to the needs of that next generation and promote new beginnings. Bellissimo has been an adventure since it was first launched in 2004 but it is time for a change. I really hope you enjoy the new experience at the ‘Food & Wine Emporium.”
