Local woman and Rise with ALDI 2024 winner Julia Sommer will see her bread go on sale from April 3rd.

Julia Sommer from Templemore is set to see her passion for sourdough become a reality, as her loaf will be available in ALDI stores across her home county of Tipperary. As the winner of the 2024 Rise with ALDI competition, Julia’s Sourdough will be available to Tipperary locals across Ireland from April 3rd. This exciting milestone marks the start of a new chapter for Julia, whose love for baking and dedication to perfecting her craft has earned her a spot on ALDI’s shelves.

Julia’s passion for baking was inspired by her mother and grandfather in Berlin. After perfecting her seeded sourdough recipe, Julia entered ALDI’s Rise with ALDI competition, competing against hundreds of talented amateur bakers. Coming out on top, her sourdough will be available in ALDI stores across Ireland, including all ALDI locations in Tipperary, where locals can experience her creation first-hand.

As part of ALDI’s commitment to supporting local talent and promoting high-quality, locally produced products, Julia’s Sourdough will be made by trusted Irish supplier, O’Haras of Foxford. This follows ALDI’s long-standing history of offering Irish shoppers the finest, fresh-baked products from homegrown bakers.
