WHERE THE BEL PAESE MEETS THE EMERALD ISLE

We’ve touched down, in a green new country, one we’ve had our heart set on for a very long time. Ireland. For our 60 strong squadra, Dublin has been a love story, with its strong community, passion for food, and, of course, sense of humour… Ireland is their home away from home. One they can’t wait to put their stamp on. Enter Gloria, our bold osteria born in Milan and reimagined in Dublin. A private palazzo, taking you on a ride through the glamour of the 1970s via the fashion houses of Italy. And what better setting to hold our wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano, 30-month aged Prosciutto Crudo and vintage Italian artefacts, than a 19th Century former bank, sitting proud on Westmoreland Street.

MAD ABOUT the prodotti

The magic begins in the hands of our beloved artisans and suppliers. This is our honour roll of long-term lovers and new-found Irish besties. First up, the one-and-only Parmigiano Reggiano, crafted 365 days a year by the Gennari family in the heart of Parma’s countryside. Not far behind, Latteria di Branzi, cheesemakers since 1953, have stolen our chefs’ hearts with Strachitunt and Taleggio, made from local mountain milk. Team Tartufi keeps our home-made pasta in the spotlight, picking only the finest truffles – with a little help from their four-legged friends – while Azienda Agricola Bettella brings thinly sliced Prosciutto Crudo Gran Riserva. Enter our Irish amici, Buckley Family Butchers, a Dublin institution to excellent Irish beef since 1900, and our Origin Green friends in Glenmar providing us with sustainable, Irish-landed seafood. In need of a quick pint? Guinness is on tap, but our house lager is craft beer aficionados Whiplash, brewed in Dublin.

PASTA, prima di tutto

Let’s strip it back to the basics. Our pasta, rolled and shaped by hand, made fresh every morning. From Emilia Romagna all the way to Westmoreland Street, our unique Lasagna goes sideways to unveil its layers (and tanto amore): saucy beef and veal ragù, San Marzano tomato sauce and creamy bechamel. Whilst if you’re ready for a quick escape to the Caput Mundi, our home-made Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe, with a chic tweak: a signature four pepper blend including the Malabar variety, which warms your palate with earthy notes. Or get carried away with Chef Davide’s half-moon Ravioli, filled with local Irish lobster, fresh caviar and bisque.

LOVELY DAY FOR A secondo

Taking you right to lunch by the Duomo, enter our La Gran Milanese, a tender rosé veal escalope, breadcrumbed and fried. And for those who like to be tempted, Gloria’s Wellington is a fun but chic tweak to the grande classico; salmon on a bed of spinach and mushrooms, rolled in golden puff pastry. Putting Guinness on the menu is a statement, but with its notes of coffee and chocolate, Chef Davide had to get some barrels in to let the Italian kitchen meet the Irish harp. Veal Ossobuco deglazed with Guinness for a richer version of this traditional piatto Milanese, accompanied with the delicate creamy polenta and fonduta di Taleggio… a love letter to all Dubliners.

UN DOLCE FINALE

Chef Oscar’s dolci is made to indulge your naughtiest fantasies … think lovingly home-made Tiramisù, our warm Valrhona chocolate soufflé, served with pistacchio gelato or a caramelised Apple Torta with whipped lemony ricotta. Need a caffeine boost? Affogato should do – but if you need a double shot, try our triple tray of Espresso Martinis, each with its own twist: pistachio, truffle, or Guinness – Bar Manager Alberto’s grazie to Sir Arthur. No true Milano night out is complete without a good negroni in your hand, try our Milanese DOC Negroni – classic or our saffron-infused version – or experience the Giro d’Italia with an epic wine list, taking you from the rolling hills of Piemonte with Barolo and Nebbiolo, through sunny Chianti and Bolgheri, all the way down to Sicilia.

OUR STAGE is set

Let our vivid scarlet pots overflowing with scented jasmine lure you in for a trip to the heart of 1970s Milano. A listed mansion, carefully restored, living its second (and most glamorous) life thanks to our in-house interior design team Studio Kiki, who have come armed with vintage Italian trinkets, artwork and silks from markets in Bologna to Parma, as well as a few subtle nods to Ireland, think Celtic carpets to deer printed lounge chairs. Push back the chocolate velvet curtain and enter our main dining room, filled with 3m high arches that echo the original floor-to-ceiling windows and enough fashion archival pieces to be the envy of Vogue. Perch on a velvet bar stool whilst you sip a peach bellinii at our centre piece, the 10-metre long Rosso Levanto marble bar crowned with over 700 vintage bottles. Need a spot for an intimate conversation? Sneak behind the bar to cosy up on a scarlet red booth for two as you survey the scene. Don’t worry, this is a restaurant built for entertaining, from our private Salottino, seating 22, to the restored Listed Room filled with original wooden panelling, seating 36.

This is Gloria’s party, and everyone’s invited.
