The community of Zambrero lovers in Ireland has played a vital role in helping Zambrero reach a major global milestone: more than 100 million meals donated to fight hunger through Zambrero’s Plate 4 Plate initiative.
Thanks to the generosity and support of customers across Ireland, the Irish community alone has contributed five million meals to people in need since opening the first Zambrero restaurant on Hatch Street in Dublin in 2016.
To say thank you and to celebrate 20 years of Feel Good Mex, Zambrero will give away 100,000 free burritos globally on Wednesday, 17 December 2025. Residents across Ireland can visit their local participating Zambrero restaurant between 12 pm and 2 pm to enjoy a free burrito while stocks last.
Every free burrito handed out on the day will also result in another meal donated, adding 100,000 more meals to the tally and building on the impact that communities like Ireland have helped create.
Darragh Fanning, General Manager of Zambrero Ireland, said: “Wednesday will be our biggest global activation to date as we celebrate an incredible milestone of 100 million meals donated through our charity partner, Rise Against Hunger. Plate4Plate is a core part of Zambrero and central to the vision created by our founder, Dr Sam Prince. Next Wednesday, we will be giving away free burritos from 12 pm to 2 pm in all Irish locations to thank our customers for helping us achieve this milestone. We are looking forward to marking this special moment across the country.”
Great-tasting food with bold flavours and fresh ingredients is only one part of Zambrero’s story. The other part? Helping end world hunger. Through the Plate 4 Plate initiative, every time a customer orders a regular or big burrito, bowl, Kids Zam Box or retail item, a meal is donated to someone in need. Working with distribution partners including Rise Against Hunger, Love Mercy Foundation and Foodbank, Zambrero has now donated more than 100 million meals, with the number growing every day.
To join the celebration, simply visit any participating Zambrero restaurant in Ireland on Wednesday, 17 December from 12 pm to 2 pm. Free burritos will be available while stocks last.
