The Star Bar unveils a brand-new food menu redefining the meaning of “pub grub”

From fresh takes on classics to your go-to “comfort food” plates, this new menu features all the familiar favourites while bringing a hint of nostalgia to the table

The latest addition to Dublin’s hospitality scene, The Star Bar, unveils a new food menu that takes the term “pub grub” to a new level. Packed with all the ‘comfort food’ classics you can think of, the extensive menu features a host of elevated takes on familiar favourites – think traditional and delicious beer-battered fish and chips, warming beef and Guinness stew or even a homemade apple and raspberry pie.

Every dish combines fresh, locally sourced ingredients and recipes that embrace simplicity. The menu is set to be a big hit with food lovers and all customers who appreciate quality food that doesn’t compromise on flavour, with a dash of nostalgia thrown in for good measure!

The menu has a varied selection of starters, mains, sides, and desserts, as well as a specially stacked no-fuss sandwich menu. Whether you’re after a big, comforting bowl of stew after a long day or something with a bit more bite to it, like the Southern Fried Chicken Nachos, The Star Bar’s latest menu has something to satisfy every craving.

Some menu standouts include:

Starters

  • Nobu Style Tempura Prawns – Served with a sriracha dipping sauce, mixed greens and lemon.

  • Chicken Wings – Tossed in a house-made hot & spicy sauce served with celery and blue cheese dip.

Mains

  • Haddock & Chips – Wright’s Award-winning Haddock, beer battered & fried crispy, served with chips, pea purée and tartar sauce.

  • Beef & Guinness Stew – A hearty blend of seasonal vegetables & tender beef, slow-cooked in a savoury stock.

  • Sausages with Onion Gravy & Champ  – Kearn’s Locally produced sausages in a house-made onion gravy on a bed of champ.

  • Fillet Steak Flambé – Served with creamy pepper sauce, greens and a side of potato gratin.

Sandwiches

  • Steak Sandwich – Served in an open-style sandwich on a bed of crispy shoestring onions, romaine lettuce, and tomato.

  • Avocado Wrap (V) – With a choice of grilled chicken or veg served with guacamole, salad, tomato and onion.

  • Cheeseburger – Grilled beef burger served on a brioche bun with mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion.

Desserts

  • Warm Chocolate Brownie – A decadent mix of a warm chocolate brownie, ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauce

  • Maura’s Apple & Raspberry Crumble – Served with vanilla ice cream.

A selection of teas, coffees, and minerals is also available, as well as an extensive drinks selection featuring beers, spirits, and expertly crafted cocktails—a pint of plain costs just €6.60.

For those who start the day early, the coffee hatch is open from 8 AM daily, serving hot coffee and fresh pastries—ideal for locals, workers, or anyone in need of a caffeine fix.

Commenting on the inspiration for the menu, Executive Chef Shloke Chhabra said:

“We wanted to create a menu that offers proper pub grub classics but steps it up a notch in quality and flavour. This menu is simple at its core, featuring locally sourced ingredients and a variety of dishes that don’t compromise on taste and pair perfectly with a pint. Whether you’re looking for a  quick bite after work, a Friday night catch-up with mates, or a big feed on a Super Sunday, we’ve got you sorted.”

About The Star Bar 

The Star Bar is a live music venue located at 43 Baggot Street Lower, Dublin 2, open seven days a week from noon to midnight. Booking and Events Co-ordinator Stefan Murphy, best known for releasing music as The Mighty Stef, will curate the line-up and will also perform with the House Band on Fridays from time to time.
