As Ireland’s orchards come alive with the bounty of harvest, Boann Distillery invites you to raise a glass to the season with a new cocktail that celebrates the rich flavours of freshly picked apples from its own orchard.
1848 Harvest Hot Toddy is a simple yet sophisticated cocktail that showcases Boann’s award-winning 1848 Apple Brandy, made with handpicked apples grown at the Cooney family apple orchards at the foot of the Hill of Tara.
1848 Harvest Hot Toddy recipe
- 50ml 1848 Apple Brandy
- 10ml Irish honey
- Hot (not boiling) water
- Cinnamon stick & star anise to garnish
Method:
In a heatproof glass, combine 50ml of 1848 Apple Brandy and 10ml of honey. Top with hot water and stir until the honey is fully dissolved. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and star anise for the perfect aromatic finish.
“This is autumn in a glass,” says Sally-Anne Cooney of Boann Distillery.
“We love that our apple orchards not only give us the apple blossom and fruit for our Silks Gin but also provide the perfect base for 1848 Apple Brandy. This hot serve is warming, spiced, and perfect for sharing as the nights draw in for fireside sipping, crisp evenings, or a seasonal get-together.”
1848 Apple Brandy is available now from select retailers nationwide and online at boanndistillery.ie, where a 700ml bottle can be purchased for €45.95.
