There’s no two ways about it – Ireland is in the middle of an açai awakening! Now SAMBAZON, the pioneering company that first exported the iconic purple-hued superfruit from Brazil to the world, is making waves in Ireland. And with Google searches for açaí in Ireland skyrocketing for the Brazilian berry, the timing couldn’t be better!

New research has revealed that Google searches for açaí in Ireland are up by a whopping 126% in 2025 compared to the same period last year with açaí aficionados in Dublin accounting for 48.9% of all searches. With A-list celebrities and online creators giving the berry the seal of approval, it’s little wonder that it has piqued the curiosity of health-conscious foodies across Ireland.

Demand for the antioxidant-rich berry has been supercharged by social media with content showcasing eye-catching açai bowls, smoothies and recipes flooding feeds. TikTok analysis reveals that Gen Z are leading the charge, creating 66% of açaí-related posts with female-presenting users accounting for 72% of posts.

The craze is not confined to social media either with BWG Foodservice, one of Ireland’s leading wholesale suppliers of açaí, reporting that sales of its scoopable açaí up over 120% this year. Sales are especially strong in coastal areas where açaí bowls have become the post-dip superfood of choice for sea swimmers.

Açaí bowls aren’t just aesthetically appealing – they’re packed with antioxidants and omega fatty acids. Whether it’s a healthy breakfast, a post-workout snack, or an afternoon pick-me-up, SAMBAZON makes it easier than ever to enjoy the superfood at home.  And although açaí hails from the tropical climate of Brazil, it’s the perfect choice for autumn when paired with tempting seasonal toppings, think maple syrup in place of honey, spiced pear in place of fresh berries, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin spice!

Speaking about the growing trends, Mari Laidlaw, SAMBAZON Managing Director Europe, said:  “Over the last twelve months, we have witnessed an incredible surge in demand for açaí, with Gen Z very much at the forefront of this growth, incorporating it into their daily routines and sharing their love for the superfruit on social media.

“As the first company to export açaí, we’re thrilled to see Irish consumers not just embracing it but leading the way in Europe. Ireland is now one of SAMBAZON’s top three growth markets in the region, a true testament to how quickly açaí has gone from niche to an everyday staple. From morning swims to afternoon coffee breaks, people are enjoying açaí bowls, smoothies, and snacks as part of their daily routines – even choosing it as a wholesome alternative to dessert. With formats ranging from scoopable tubs for sharing to handy fridge tubs and grab-and-go packs for busy lifestyles, there’s an option to suit every occasion. While young people have helped spark the trend, demand is growing right across all age groups, and we expect this momentum to continue.”

Anthony Creed, Sales Manager at BWG Foodservice, said: “We have seen sales of scoopable açaí more than double over the last year with more and more cafés, restaurants and food trucks getting on board. The trend has clearly moved beyond social media – customers are demanding it and businesses are responding.”
