The College Green Hotel Dublin is pleased to launch its latest offering — The Literary Afternoon Tea Experience at The Atrium Lounge. Inspired by Ireland’s rich literary heritage and the classic elegance of afternoon tea, this new experience invites guests to enjoy a curated selection of sweet and savoury treats, each thoughtfully paired with stories and themes from cherished Irish authors. Set beneath the Lounge’s renowned glass ceiling, it celebrates culture, cuisine, and conversation in the heart of Dublin.

The Library Suites at The College Green Hotel Dublin are named in honour of some of Ireland’s most celebrated literary icons: George Bernard Shaw, Samuel Beckett, W.B. Yeats, and Oscar Wilde. With conceptual glamour and creative sparkle woven into every detail, these Suites are more than places to stay – they are places to dream.  Two storeys, many stories. It is from these inspiring spaces that the new Literary Afternoon Tea experience was born.

Rooted in the cultural heart of Dublin, The Literary Afternoon Tea at The Atrium Lounge is a tribute to Ireland’s extraordinary literary heritage. From Yeats to Joyce, Wilde to Heaney, this thoughtfully curated experience celebrates the island’s greatest writers through a unique pairing of flavours and storytelling. Set within the light-filled serenity of The Atrium Lounge, an oasis beneath the historic architecture of The College Green Hotel Dublin, this experience is as much about slowing down and absorbing the atmosphere as it is about indulgence. It captures the spirit of Dublin as a UNESCO City of Literature, offering guests a multisensory celebration of food, place, and prose.

Designed as more than just a traditional afternoon tea, this offering invites guests to savour both cuisine and culture. Each savoury and sweet item on the menu is inspired by a specific author or literary moment, reflecting their character, works, and the evocative landscapes of Ireland that shaped them. Highlights from the menu include:

  • Wilde’s Guinness-cured salmon, a nod to the wit and decadence of Oscar Wilde
  • Heaney’s spiced apple creation evokes the poet’s rural roots and lyrical warmth
  • A playful reference to Ulysses with “Sweny’s Lemon Soap”, bringing Joyce’s Dublin to life on the plate
