The Stables Café is delighted to unveil its new summer menu at Mount Congreve Gardens, featuring produce freshly harvested from the estate’s own kitchen gardens, along with the launch of the Stables Store. Nestled in the heart of one of Ireland’s most exquisite gardens in County Waterford, the café’s seasonal offering invites both returning guests and first-time visitors to indulge in flavours that celebrate the land, the season, and the estate’s enduring connection to local producers.
Set within the historic grounds of the estate, The Stables Café welcomes guests to a refreshed and refined menu in a warm and elegant setting. Building on the success of table service introduced earlier this year, the café now offers an even more enticing menu. Expect freshly baked quiches, daily specials such as Monkfish risotto, and plenty of vegetarian options. These join an already popular selection of freshly prepared artisan sandwiches, garden-to-plate salads, hearty soups, decadent pastries, and expertly brewed coffee — all served with warmth and efficiency in a setting that celebrates the estate’s natural beauty. Guests can unwind in the café’s signature oval-window dining room, enjoying daily specials that feature locally sourced seafood, meats, and vegetarian dishes—all thoughtfully paired with accompaniments grown on the estate.
Rooted in the legacy of sustainability and seasonality, the culinary approach is led by Head Chef Jean Baptiste Dubois in close collaboration with Mount Congreve’s Kitchen Gardener. Together, they honour the Congreve tradition of purposeful cultivation, with many of the café’s ingredients grown just steps from the kitchen. This deep commitment to provenance not only enhances the menu’s flavour and freshness but also reinforces the estate’s dedication to the farm-to-fork ethos and zero-waste principles.
After a day wandering the gardens, why not take a little piece of Mount Congreve home with you? The newly launched Stables Store is a treasure trove of artisan products — perfect for stocking up on beautiful dinner ingredients like wood-fired pizza bases, fine olive oils, and gourmet pantry goods.
Pick up a thoughtful gift, from Mount Congreve-branded hand-painted chocolates by Cappoquin’s Cocoa by Judit to champagne truffles and other indulgent treats. And if you’re staying overnight, don’t miss the cosy comforts: s’mores kits, gourmet popcorn, and other fireside favourites await.
With a growing range of local produce and beautifully curated fine foods, the Stables Store is fast becoming a favourite stop for guests looking to savour the estate a little longer.
Adding further to the experience, Mount Congreve Gardens introduces the 1760 Estate Blend—a distinctive house coffee created in homage to the year Mount Congreve House was commissioned. This exclusive roast, available both in the café and to take home, boasts a refined flavour profile with delicate notes of green apple, almond, milk chocolate, and honey.
Mount Congreve Gardens’ much-loved Summer Veg Boxes are also now available for sale, offering a delicious taste of the estate’s abundant walled gardens. Freshly harvested by the dedicated team at Grounded Growing, each box is packed with vibrant, seasonal produce including carrots, beetroot, potatoes, garlic, courgettes, beans, and more — all grown in the estate’s beautiful kitchen gardens.
Sara Dolan, CEO of Mount Congreve Gardens, shared her enthusiasm for the new offerings: “We are incredibly proud to unveil the refreshed Stables Café and the new Stables Store, both of which reflect our commitment to quality, sustainability, and an experience that immerses every guest in the essence of Mount Congreve. These additions bring together the finest elements of our estate—from garden-grown ingredients to carefully curated artisan goods—offering a true taste of place.”
Mount Congreve Gardens is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, including bank holidays. The Stables Café and Store are open to the public, while access to the gardens can be booked online or via the estate’s main house reception.
