  • The Whole Idea

There’s a simple idea behind Fallon & Byrne, and it’s this. We believe in wonderful food, fine wine, great company. We put it on our shelves for you to take away. Or we serve it to you, in any of several ways. You choose. We’ll even bring the whole experience to you to cater for an event at home or in work.

    Slow food. Hot Spot.

The restaurant was always intended to be a treat, and it is. Just a not wildly expensive one. The season’s good stuff from land and sea, cooked with gentle respect for excellent ingredients, served by cheerful sorts in a beautiful space.

    The Lower Depths

The shelves are lined with an unrivalled selection of more than 600 wickedly quaffable wines, many served by the glass, all to take away. We can recommend every last one, with or without our tasty bar food. Our staff will help you to choose wines to match your food or party and we’re happy to give discounts on larger purchases. We’ll even deliver cases to your door.

And, to banish those early week blues, we have a special offer of just €1 corkage on all wines from the cellar shelves every Monday & Tuesday.

    A Proper Grocers

Very proper. The food hall at Fallon & Byrne stocks the best of everything, and that’s all. Just-caught fish, well-hung meat, mighty coffee, sinful cakes, fine artisan foods of every kind, the freshest of fruit and vegetables.

Who said stocking shelves was easy? It shouldn’t be. We spent years editing our food collection and we’re constantly updating it because, let’s face it, not every jar that glitters is gold. And the tasty result of all of this hard work (somebody’s got to do it)? More than 3,000 bottles and jars of natural delectables, some old chestnuts, others new finds. All products we love, priced at points we hope you’ll find fair.

We do hampers. We do lunch. We do serious treats. Within reason, we do whatever you’d like us to. You do your food browsing. We hop to it.

  • One of Dublin’s best kept secrets, Platform 61 offers imaginative food, elegant wines and extraordinary cocktails in the intimate surroundings of an underground hideaway on South William Street.
Platform 61’s stunning setting takes its inspiration from a secret subway platform under the Waldorf Astoria in New York. The platform with its specially built golden elevator allowed VIPs such as President F.D. Roosevelt to access the hotel in private, and also played host to Andy Warhol’s infamous ‘Underground Parties’.

Today, the platform known as Track 61 has become the holy grail for New York’s urban explorers seeking to uncover its legend, lore and legacy. In turn, Platform 61 has become the go-to venue for Dublin’s social urbanites seeking only the best in dining experiences.

  • Traditional Irish bar & seafood restaurant in the heart of Howth village

     Great Music~Great Food~ Great Craic

A warm and welcoming interior with an old-fashioned feel, an open turf-burning fireplace, classic signage and interesting bric-a-brac stirring memories of a bygone age… these are just some of the features of “The Bloody Stream”, one of North Dublin’s most atmospheric and popular bars, where the byword is hospitality. Add to this the Mediterranean-style beer garden, live music every weekend and an extensive menu of fresh seafood and other delicacies and you have a special venue indeed.

Located just below the Howth DART station, its live music and late night bar create a real party atmosphere that’s proven a major attraction for locals as well as those travelling from Dublin city centre. In the heart of the picturesque town of Howth and its impressive harbour, The Bloody Stream has plenty of parking nearby and is especially popular among tour groups. It’s the perfect spot for those looking for great food and drink in pleasant surroundings, with that indefinable “craic” usually in evidence for good measure!

Whether you’re a fan of traditional Irish, Jazz, Blues or mainstream popular music The Bloody Stream always has something different to offer, and its beer garden is the perfect place for a summer afternoon’s listening to good sounds and enjoying a drink. The Bloody Stream caters for tour groups visiting Howth, private and corporate parties, and all social and sporting events.

    History of The Bloody Stream

The Bloody Stream is named in honour of The Bloody Stream over which it is built. In August 1177, during the second Norman invasion, a heavy battle took place near here between the forces of Sir Almeric Tristram (said to have been a descendent of one of the knights of King Arthur’s Round Table and whom took over command from Sir John de Courcy on the expedition’s arrival at Howth, who was unable to leave his ship) and the Danes, who were occupying Evora Bridge at that time. Inevitably the fighting produced blood, some of which found its way into the little stream that has been known as “The Bloody Stream” ever since.

  • Welcome to Burtown, an Artists' Garden & our Green Barn Restaurant, Cafe & Shop near Athy in Co. Kildare

The Green Barn is located just inside the front gates of Burtown House, set in the front parkland overlooking our walled kitchen garden. It is easily accessible as a quick lunch stop, or for a more relaxed luncheon style affair or for dinner on Saturday night.

Based on old style Scandinavian barns with a New England twist, The Green Barn combines high ceilings and rustic textures with individual table settings, giant branches, flowers from the garden and potted vegetables on all the tables. The restaurant opens out onto an exterior terrace, and again into a series of courtyard spaces that each tell a different story and create a different ambience. We love to host weddings, private parties, christenings, communions and any worthy occasion!

We have an eclectic range of interior accessories, books, paintings, sculpture, prints, books and cards. Our stock is ever changing and much of what you see in The Green Barn is available to buy or order. We make a variety of chunky authentic kitchen tables many of which can be viewed here. Lights, chairs, cutlery and much more...

Recently opened is Jo’s pantry, our new cheese deli & artisan food shop, with homemade pestos, freshly baked breads, preserves, delicious olives, Jamon & salamis and much more. We have also made a little café here with more informal seating where you can order antipasto boards, and open sandwiches with its own outdoor seating area, for those looking for a more casual dining experience.

FRESHEST FOOD, STRAIGHT FROM THE GARDEN...

Head grower Dermot Carey overseas our production of fresh produce, working closely with us here at The Green Barn to ensure a constant supply of varied seasonal produce with a walled kitchen garden, 4 acre field plot and a couple of polly tunnels. We raise our own Dexter cattle ensuring slow maturing, excellent tasting beef which is highly desired by restaurant owners and food enthusiasts.

Our delicious fresh produce is now available to take home at Jo’s Pantry. We are almost 100 % self sufficient and use sustainable methods for all our food production and serve only the freshest possible seasonal produce that has almost always come straight from our kitchen garden that very morning.

Serving what we love to eat - honest, unfussy, unpretentious food, letting our produce be the strength in what you eat. We like to combine seasonal ingredients, using flavours, textures, and colours and to experiment all the time, hence offering changing menus that reflect what is happening in our garden.

  • The world famous Shelbourne is a timeless landmark in the heart of Dublin.

Overlooking the magnificent St. Stephen's Green, it is only a few minutes walk from Dublin's most famous landmarks as well as the key shopping and cultural areas of the city. The connection to Ireland's capital runs far deeper than just location.

Founded in 1824, The Shelbourne is a place where history has been made, the Irish Constitution was drafted, literary masterpieces were penned and society was shaped. This outstanding hotel has been dramatically restored to its full original splendor in recent years. Take time to write your chapter in this iconic properties extensive history.

    The Saddle Room

The Saddle Room encompasses the cherished traditions of dining at The Shelbourne, developed over generations. Reassuringly timeless, with an atmosphere of grandeur and comfort, it strikes a balance between formality and relaxation. A lavish menu inspired by the classics and served with all the theatre and flourish of old-school Irish service.

A lavish cheese trolley. A pre-ordered roast of black leg chicken for two. A sumptuously traditional Beef Wellington carved table side. Dining in The Saddle Room is what The Shelbourne has always been designed with the guest's enjoyment first and foremost in mind.

Executive Head Chef Garry Hughes and his devoted team have created a series of seasonal menus which pay homage to the grand culinary history of The Shelbourne and celebrate the most spectacular and delicious local produce of Ireland.

Capable of seating up to twenty guests, The Saddle Room's private dining rooms offer all the comfort, style and old-world service of The Saddle Room but in an intimate and private setting.

    The Lord Mayor's Lounge

Luxurious, lovingly restored, and sparkling with light, Ireland's most historic drawing room looks out over the grandeur of St. Stephen's Green. From bright morning meetings and the cherished traditions of Afternoon Tea to dinner and drinks for residents late into the evening, The Lord Mayor's Lounge is a quietly opulent space designed for delight.

    No. 27 Bar & Lounge

The social capital of the Irish capital and the beating heart of the hotel, where Dublin society gathers to raise a glass and raise their spirits. Sparkling cocktails and precise pints served with style. A menu of elevated bar classics and fresh Irish seafood served with casual elegance. No.27 Bar & Lounge is the place to see and be seen.

    The Horseshoe Bar

A distinctive Dublin treasure. A warm and intimate bar for a perfect pint of plain, a beloved local whiskey or a well-built martini. The atmospheric Horseshoe Bar is a destination, an institution and a living history of Irish society. Hosting Ireland's most fascinating characters since 1957.

    1824 Bar

If The Shelbourne itself had a snug, this might just be it. A luxe, intimate, and sophisticated atmosphere with low lights, rich wood panelling, and a host with the arcane knowledge to navigate 1824's vast hand-picked list of top-shelf whiskey, Champagne, wine, and premium cocktails.

    The Terrace

A hidden, unexpected and enchanting open-air space within the hotel which blurs the distinction between indoors and out. The Terrace is sheltered from the elements but open to the sky, with broad canopies, heaters, and an open fireplace to extend the season. We’ve created our intimate home in a stunning, vaulted 19th century warehouse space in the CHQ Building. Our venue is a mix of offerings that is inspired by travels and journeys of our own and suits any occasion. A briefly detailed outline is shared below.

    Stack A Restaurant

Located in our 200-year-old vaults, an architectural masterpiece in its own right, Stack A is a smart casual restaurant suited to intimate small tables, social gatherings or larger groups up to 250 people. Due to the layout of the vaults, each separated by a wonderful wall of brick and stone, it makes for an unrivalled atmosphere and setting. Serving both lunch and dinner, group menus, canapes and a lot more, it is a unique space to bring your relatives, friends or clients.

    Hop Garden

A large terrace, fully heated and covered is an ideal all year-round spot to enjoy a drink, bite or coffee.

    Taps & Tapas

Our most social, informal and vibrant space. With its own dedicated open kitchen, crafting an array of international tapas style dishes, two fully licensed bars that offer over 200 beers, over 100 wines by the glass and bottle, as well as very selective spirits and inventive cocktails. Whether you prefer the bright and modern surroundings of our mezzanine overlooking the waterfront or prefer the more intimate setting of our vault bar, there is always a spot and a smile waiting for you.

    Brewmasters’ Table

This is a private area that can accommodate 16 guests sitting or 25 standing. It is where our own brews ferment and age in different barrels. Be it for a tasting, a food and wine / beer pairing or simply a more exclusive get together, it always makes for a memorable experience. Brewery Tours With the first of its kind brewery in Ireland, we are well suited to offer a variety of brewery tour packages and tastings. These can be organised in advance and a highlight we are really proud off. During these tours you get to immerse yourself in the brewing process, taste whichever beers we are pouring at the time and meet the brewers for a more in depth and approachable chat.
