Christmas sambo season is finally upon us and this year, Dublin’s favourite cheesy café Meltdown has launched two festive toasties to help get us in the spirit.
Renowned for its menu of mouth-watering cheese-filled toasties, this Christmas Meltdown has created two sandwiches that perfectly encompass all the best bits of a Christmas dinner.
The ‘Happy Cheesemas’ (€9.50) features roast turkey, bacon, cranberry stuffing, brie and white cheddar between two slices of delicious sourdough bread.
For veggies, the ‘Sweet Baby Cheesus ‘(€9.50) is a sandwich to behold. Toasted sourdough bread is perfectly packed with oozy, gooey cranberry mac and cheese, stuffing, scallion, brie, cheddar and caramelised onion.
For the sweet-seekers, treat yourself to a Gingerbread Hot Chocolate with homemade cranberry marshmallows (€3.85) – the perfect winter warmer.
Meltdown Christmas specials are available now until the end of January.

Founded by owner Maeve O’Malley in 2018, Meltdown is a cheese lover’s paradise.
What started out as an exciting 3-month pop-up on Dublin’s Stephen Street Lower has grown to two permanent locations on Dublin’s Leeson Street and Montague Street, and is a favourite amongst the city’s foodie community. The menu has also grown to include tasty breakfast options, coffee and homemade baked goods.
Meltdown is all about delicious food that doesn’t compromise on flavour. Meltdown Hot Stuff, the secret ingredient to lots of the café’s most popular dishes, are now also available in 170 stores nationwide. Winedown, Meltdown’s sister restaurant, serves delicious global dishes, tapas-style, using seasonal Irish ingredients, and opens at the Montague Street location Tuesday to Saturday from 5 ‘til late.
