April 2020: Ballsbridge Living is a community-lead initiative, which launched in 2018 to promote Ballsbridge as the leading destination in Ireland to live, visit, work and socialise. With community at its core, the initiative works with local business, eateries, events and initiatives to maintain a healthy and supportive society.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Ballsbridge Living has reached out to its community and championed simple yet effective ways to make the most of staying at home – including supporting local businesses, self-care and helping the local community.

Ballsbridge Living is shining a light on the Restaurant & Hospitality industry, as  Irish-owned businesses strive for success and  keep trading during these uncertain times. Restaurants are the second highest performing industry succeeding from online voucher sales amounting to 29.1% of all sales. With the Easter break fast approaching, many families would normally go out and enjoy a meal at their favourite local restaurants. By supporting them via online vouchers, customers are showing their desire to keep them alive. Additionally,  many restaurants have adjusted to the new normal by offering free delivery to the Ballsbridge community. Companies including Base Wood Fired Pizza, The French Paradox, Roly’s, Poulet Bonne Femme @ Avoca and Domino’s Pizza have followed suit.

Roly’s

Roly’s has built a reputation as one of the most popular places to eat in Dublin for almost 30 years. Their food is carefully sourced and served, its enduring popularity reaffirming the highest standards of quality and service it delivers. Classic and sophisticated starters, mains and desserts coupled with an extensive selection of wines, by the bottle or glass, make it a dining experience to remember.

Following government guidelines, Roly’s Bistro has had to temporarily close its doors, however, it’s Cafe and Shop remain open to the public, full details of which can be found on their website. Their  production of prepared meals has been increased to help everyone in the locality at this time. Customers can also buy gift vouchers to support the restaurant until it reopens.

Base Wood Fired Pizza

Base Wood Fired Pizza mission is simple: Uncompromising Quality. That’s what founder Shane Crilly was looking for when he founded Base Wood Fired Pizza. The pursuit of the perfect pizza begun when Shane embarked on a journey to the birthplace of pizza, Naples, in Southern Italy. After learning the art of making a real pizza alongside local Italian cooks, Shane returned to Dublin and set out to improve the standard of pizza in our city, creating a pizza that inspires healthier choices by offering people real food. They are open offering  free delivery to the Ballsbridge area & also supporting our front line heroes, via the Feed the Hero’ s campaign, that has so rightly & justly fed our nurses & doctors whilst battling COVID19 for their country.

Poulet Bonne Femme

Poulet Bonne Femme, Avoca Ballsbridge, are still open to the public, servicing Ballsbridge with their rotisserie chicken needs. Gavin McCarthy and Sara Mitchell set up Ireland’s first Rotisserie chicken business in May 2009. The idea came to them after a holiday in Spain where they enjoyed a hot rotisserie chicken bought straight from the spit at a local farmers market.  All of the chickens sold are Irish, free-range and all of the ingredients used in the secret marinade are of the highest quality. The chickens are slowly roasted on a spit, continuously basting in their own juices, which produces a deliciously succulent roast chicken for customers to take home with them or eat in one of their tasty sandwiches or salads.

Keep dinner time interesting. As well as the signature rotisserie chicken, you can also find the amazingly tasty Porchetta – Irish pork loin marinated in herbs and garlic and roasted with truly crispy crackling, Irish honeyroast ham, roast Irish lamb and delicious succulent Irish beef –  perfect for your Easter Sunday Roast.

The French Paradox

The French Paradox is located in the heart of Ballsbridge and offers a small oasis of France for lovers of everything Francophile. Even during times of COVID-19, their staff will help you choose the right wine for your at-home pleasure, bringing a sense of chic refinement straight to your door.  Their store is still open, so pop in today for your essential needs, with a selection of carefully chosen freshly baked oven breads, cheeses, truffle, oils, Pierre Oteiza Basque charcuterie products, French preserves, chocolates, Havana Cigars, French Paradox gift vouchers and over  150 exclusive wines on offer. French Paradox are also offering free delivery to the Ballsbridge community, so don’t hesitate to place your order today.

As a community, local restaurants have seen enormous  support from local residents trying to  keep their favourite businesses alive. Ballsbridge Living continues to connect its community and commit to shining a light on businesses and residents.
